BA MUSIC AND SOUND DESIGN

MUSIC COMPOSITION AND SOUND DESIGN FOR SCREEN, STAGE AND NEW MEDIA.

This innovative new programme is designed for musicians from a wide range of musical backgrounds interested in composing music and designing sound for a wide range of contexts but with particular emphasis on film and theatre.

Sound Design in piano

BA MUSIC PERFORMANCE

SOLO AND ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE ENCOMPASSING ALL MUSICAL GENRES.

This new programme is designed to appeal to performers from a wide range of musical backgrounds including classical, folk, traditional, pop, rock, jazz, singer/songwriter, electronic and experimental music traditions. Students also develop skills for performing in the recording studio utilising technology in their performance practice.

SARC is a facility part of the School of Arts, English and Languages.  The School offers two main undergraduate degree pathways to choose from in Music and in Sonic Arts.  The links below will direct you to the main School website where you will find more information on each of the degree rogrammes.

BMus Pathway in Music

The BMus allows students to specialise in one or more of Musicology, Composition, Music Technology and Performance, all taught by staff who are experts in the area.   Students may also take up to one third of their modules (effectively a Minor) in another subject.

BSc Pathway in Music Technology

The BSc Music Technology and Sonic Arts pathway allows specialisation in areas such as sound engineering, electro-acoustic composition and sound design, computer programming, performance, and interaction design. Students may also opt to take modules in composition, performance or musicology from the BMus pathway.
