David Bird is an Electroacoustic Composer that hails from Swansea in South Wales. David developed a love for acousmatic music and sonic art at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where he gained a masters degree in Creative Music Technology. Since then David has had works presented at the Australian Computer Music Conference, Sonorities Contemporary Music Festival (Belfast, Northern Ireland), a Residency at the Centro Mexicano para la Musica las Artes Sonorous (Morelia, Mexico) and is proud to be a founding member of the Sonic Arts in Wales collective. David is working towards a PhD in composition at the Sonic Arts and Research Centre, Queens University of Belfast. The compositional research in progress focuses on how environmental sound can be used to create real, surreal and imaginary soundscape compositions. The research to date has involved multi-location recording, works for multichannel speaker arrays and developing processing techniques for environmental sound.
