Donal’s research is concerned with mobile digital game design and evaluation for seniors. 

This has involved the iterative development of an iPhone-based brain-training tool for seniors. Through a series of focus groups, usability studies and field trials Brain Jog, a suite of puzzle games targeted specifically at seniors, was developed for the iPhone. 

His main interests are user-centred design, technology development and acceptance, qualitative research and computer programming.
